The firm’s experience and competence in this genre of law has positioned it as an industry leader having successfully prosecuted and defended various election matters across different courts, tribunals, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and in relation to all classes of elections into all elective offices in Nigeria including local government elections, States’ legislative and Gubernatorial elections, elections into the National Assembly and election for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The firm amongst others, successfully led the defence to the challenge against the 2007 and 2011 Presidential elections of Presidents Umaru Musa Yaradua GCFR and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR reported in (2008) 19NWLR (PT. 1120)1 and (2011) 12 SC (pt. V) 80 respectively and other similar cases against the said elections; successfully defended the challenges against the 2003, 2007 and 2015 elections of the Governors of Lagos State reported in (2014) ALL FWLR (PT. 755) 200, (2008) 6NWLR (PT.1082) 90 and (2016) 4NWLR (PT. 1501) 151 respectively; successfully led the defence to the 2011 elections of the Governors of Delta, Nassarawa and Abia states reported in (2012) 11NWLR (Pt. 1311) 357, (2012) 13NWLR (Pt. 1317) 297 and (2011) 11 – 12 SC (Pt. II) 4; led the legal challenge to the declaration of winners to the Governorship offices in Ondo and Edo States in the 2007 election reported in (2009) 7NWLR (PT.1140) 342 and (2009) 4NWLR (PT. 1132) 607 respectively where the Court of Appeal removed the winners declared by the electoral body and replaced them with candidates who proved polling majority of the valid votes in court; successfully challenged the removal of the Governor of Abia State in the 2007 Gubernatorial election by the Election Petitions Tribunal at the Court of Appeal as reported in (2009) 14NWLR (PT.1161) 207.
