Taking a cue from the States of Fragility Framework, the increased rate of migration from Nigeria can be viewed under three basic elements that affect any nation: economic, social, and political. In other words, the high level of poverty, unemployment, insurgency, political instability, insecurity, corruption, and stifling costs of living has significantly contributed to the ongoing forced economic migration trend. The social contract theory draws on ideation of several philosophers like Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, David Hume and Jean-Jacques Rousseau to explore the philosophical underpinning for the relationship between the State and its constituents.
