Our Principal Partner, Chief Wole Olanipekun, CFR, SAN, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, chaired the grand finale of the 2026 NBA Okitipupa Law Week held in Akure. The prestigious event, hosted at Ojaja Park, brought together an array of distinguished figures from the legal, governmental, and traditional spheres.
Delivering a thought-provoking lecture titled “Imperatives of the Judiciary in a Working Democracy: The Common Law Jurisdiction and the Nigerian Experience,” he emphasized that justice is a universal principle that must transcend personal and subjective interpretations, serving not only litigants but society as a whole. He also decried the growing tendency to measure justice by personal success in litigation, while reaffirming the timeless judicial philosophy that justice must serve all parties, including society.
Further underscoring his global recognition, following his ranking by Chambers and Partners (2026) as a Senior Statesman in Dispute Resolution, the legal luminary was conferred with the sui generis title of “Trans-Atlantic Legal Emperor” at this historic gathering.
The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State ; Hon. Justice A. O. Odusola, Chief Judge of Ondo State ; Tayo Oyetibo, SAN, the keynote speaker ; Kayode Ajulo, SAN, Attorney-General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State ; and His Imperial Majesty, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, the Ooni of Ife, Ojaja II, alongside other distinguished luminaries.
